Endeavour Energy wins Energy Networks Consumer Engagement Award
Endeavour Energy has been awarded the Energy Networks Consumer Engagement Award for 2024.
Presented by Energy Networks Australia (ENA), in collaboration with Energy Consumers Australia, the award recognises excellence in consumer engagement by a network business.
Endeavour Energy’s winning project focused on co-designing a microgrid at Bawley Point, NSW.
They partnered with local residents, community groups, and various government bodies in Bawley Point and Kiola to design and deliver the state’s first community microgrid.
Significantly, Endeavour Energy co-designed the microgrid with the community and drew on local knowledge.
ENA Chief Executive Officer Dom van den Berg said the winning team’s engagement strategy resulted in a design that mirrored consumer needs and values.
“Endeavour Energy’s project responded to the community’s desire to ensure that no one is left behind in the energy transition by offering a social tier to vulnerable customers.
“Engaging with customers on the type of services they expect from their network service providers is a critical component of leading consumer engagement best practice.” she said.
Energy Consumers Australia CEO Dr Brendan French said: “Ensuring that consumers feel their voice is being heard and that their needs are being properly considered is vital to ensuring their participation in the energy transition.”
“Innovative and successful consumer engagement practices are crucial to achieving this.”
“We congratulate Endeavour Energy for their work in engaging consumers on this project – and we hope this serves as a model for the sector in how effective engagement can lead to better outcomes for communities.”
Baringa was this year’s presenting partner for the award and Partner James Colbert said:
“The Endeavour Energy Bawley Point Microgrid project demonstrated an exceptional combination of customer and community engagement, delivering significant community benefits through a solution that enhances resilience and incorporates renewable technologies.”
The winners were announced at last night’s Energy Networks Australia Annual Dinner along with the Industry Innovation Award and the Individual Contribution Award and the inaugural Women in Networks Award.
