Energy Networks have your back Australia

Energy Networks Australia has today launched a campaign backing the nation’s front-line and emergency services workers and raising awareness for the need to continue critical works.

On behalf of members nationwide, Energy Networks Australia CEO Andrew Dillon thanked those working to keep us safe during this pandemic.

“While our nurses, doctors and other emergency services workers are out on the front-line protecting us, our energy networks are working around the clock to ensure the lights stay on, the gas keeps flowing and Australia can keep running,” Mr Dillon said.

“We’re all in this together, and we want our front-line heroes to know that energy networks have their back and they – and all Australians – can rely on us to continue delivering safe and secure energy supplies.”

Mr Dillon said networks were working hard to minimise disruption from any planned outages necessary for critical works to keep the energy system stable and reliable.

“During this pandemic, while many people are working from home, we may still need to turn your power off to do critical works,” he said.

“We know this can be an inconvenience, and we are taking steps to ensure only critical works are done and with minimal disruption.

“If we need to do works on electricity and gas infrastructure it is for repairs or to ensure safe and secure power supply to essential services like hospitals.

“Please respect our crews as they undertake these works.

“As essential workers, our teams may need to work close together, and so careful health risk assessments are undertaken to keep our crews and customers safe.”
